In addition to the discussion, the most commonly used method. Its duration is shorter than that of the lecture. It varies between 5-10 minutes and 20-25 minutes, depending on age.

There are three types (Brown and Amstrong 1984):

  • Interpretive explanation: interpretation of concepts. Question word: What?
  • Descriptive explanation: used to present a process or structure. Question: How?
  • Explanatory explanation: it is used to find out the causes of phenomena Question word: Why?
